THE CHAMPION COMPANY, established in 1878, was originally built as a chemical production facility. In the early 1950's, Champion began designing hermetically sealed shipping containers for the United States Government and is currently recognized as a leader in the metal fabrication field, primarily, shipping and storage containers. In 1954, the first hermetically sealed, climate controlled container was built through a joint venture with Wright-Patterson AFB, Allison Engine Company (then General Motors) and The Champion Company. Since our beginning, we have expanded our facilities and personnel and are now one of the largest manufacturers engaged in the design, development, testing and production of metal shipping containers conforming to most all DOD requirements and specifications as well as many commercial applications. Champion's investment in today's high technology manufacturing machinery ensures that every production part that Champion manufacturers has been processed under the most precise and efficient production methods to meet your strictest specifications. With over 200,000 square feet of production space, our manufacturing capability and experience covers all metal working requirements for steel, aluminum, stainless, and other materials. Automated equipment such as our Whitney 3700 ATC, Whitney 647 Plus Panelmaster Fabrication Center, NC Precision Brake System and Robotic Welding offer precise and efficient high volume productivity with current technology. Our production facilities are complete and include: a Tool and Die Shop; Machine Shop; Press Room with allied equipment, and presses ranging from 50 to 550 tons; a Class 2 Welding Shop; Modern Automatic Pre-Treatment to Paint Systems. Every operation is strongly supported with quality control facilities conforming to most commercial and military specifications that covers all manufacturing functions.
